Mochele Noge - [CA (SA) - BCom (Hons), MCom, LLB], is a highly accomplished chartered accountant with over 15 years’ experience in finance and operations management. Well-developed analytical skills in identifying opportunities in various business sectors and expertly evaluating and assessing the financial viability of potential investments. Skilled in procuring financing for new business ventures. Commendable writing and presentation skills coupled with possessing a range of leadership and inter-personal skills that support a vast business network.

He is a South African professional who commenced his career working for the FirstRand Group in diverse divisions such as FNB Card, FirstRand Banking Group and RMB – Rand Merchant Bank’s Corporate Finance Division. This was followed by a stint in Citi – Citigroup’s Investment Bank and Corporate Banking divisions. Thereafter, he proceeded to explore his entrepreneurial passions and subsequently embarked on a journey of business and academia that would span 15 years. Mochele is a Chartered Accountant who holds the following qualifications B Com (Economics), Hons (Accounting), H Dip (Corporate Law), PGD (Tax Law), PGD (International Tax), M Com (SA and International Tax), LLB.

1. “A Discussion on Business Rescue Legislation in South Africa;”

2. “South African Tax Considerations of Hybrid Financial Instruments;”

3. “A Discussion on Whether the Local GAAR Applies or Overrides in a DTA Treaty Context Where the Treaty Exempts Tax or Gives a Credit;” and

4. “Transfer Pricing in South African Tax Law.”

He is registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (“SAICA”) as well as the Institute of Directors South Africa (“IODSA”). His banking knowledge over the years has covered the areas of retail, investment and corporate banking in South Africa, the UK and Ireland. In addition, his numerous directorships have exposed him to electronic security solutions, mining, road construction, fibre optics, agriculture, precious minerals, financial services, private equity, tourism as well as public and state-owned entities.

His exposure includes a Chairmanship and directorships on the JSE (“Johannesburg Stock Exchange”) Limited. As a Presidentially appointed Member of the Tax Court in South Africa he has the privilege of being involved in complex tax litigation. He presents himself as an experienced generalist who has a penchant for entrepreneurship whilst possessing a passion for analytical and detailed thinking. The wide-spread nature of his commercial capability is evidence of his ability to be flexible and adaptable to a myriad of business enterprises and circumstances.

Christiaan Herbst - [BA (Hons), MBA], commonly known as Tiaan, is a pre-eminent business rescue and turnaround practitioner with a distinguished career spanning over 17 years in management consulting. His expertise lies in steering organisations through complex operational and financial challenges, ensuring dramatic improvements in performance and sustainability. Specialising in the domains of business rescue and turnaround, he has adeptly managed and executed 110 projects across various industries, significantly averting bankruptcy for numerous businesses.

Tiaan holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and has further honed his expertise through specialised certifications in Financial Markets from Yale and Business Rescue Practice from the University of South Africa. His experiance of financial restructuring is complemented by his proven ability to secure post-commencement funding, having successfully raised R128 million through innovative financial instruments.

As a director of the Turnaround Management Association of Southern Africa, Tiaan contributes thought leadership to the field, notably authoring a chapter on business rescue for the CCMA arbitrators training manual. His scholarly work includes the research papers "Bridging the Gap or Widening the Divide? A Critical Review of South Africa's Pandemic Financial Response" and "Ethical Standards and Responsibilities of Business Rescue Practitioners: A Literary Analysis of the Danco Case – 2023". These papers have been distributed widely and engage with critical issues facing business rescue practices and pandemic response effectiveness in South Africa.
